Music rang softly through the orange and black headphones from where they rested around a young girl’s neck like a necklace. It was a soft and lilting tune that would remind one of a lullaby that you heard long ago but can’t place where you heard it. The young lady quietly hummed along with the rhythm as she tapped the music sheets to make sure they were even before she stapled them together with a small stapler. After that was done, she then put back in the black bag by her chair. With her work done, she leaned her hand in her now free hand and sighed, letting her thoughts drift.

Haru had been very busy lately, getting the last touches done for her groups’ latest album and while she was happy that it was almost done, she couldn’t help but feel a little sad as well. She wondered if other people felt this way when they were almost finished with a project that they had held so dearly to their hearts for so long. A strange mixture of elated joy and melancholy, it was a weird combination to be sure. She sighed and brushed a lock of hair that had escaped her ponytail out of her face. It made her a little annoyed at herself, that she was sitting here and waxing poetically about stupid things like that. She had other things that she needed to be doing. She couldn’t waste the day away on dreams and weird feelings that she couldn’t name.

She pushed the chair away from the table and picked up the bag. She headed down the hallway to her room to put it back before she headed back into the living room where she sat down on a chair and turned on the television. Well, she thought as she got lost in some really lousy reality TV show.  It wasn’t really her room. It was just a room that she was using for the moment. Heck, even her room at the estate was pretty much a room that she using just for a short time. She wondered when the last time that she had felt like she had a true, blue, honest-to-goodness home was, not just some place to stay in for a while. She shook her angrily, she was getting more and more philosophical today. Something that tended to happen when she tired; she was tired and not just physically though she couldn’t pinpoint when it began. She just knew that she was and really had no way to fix it either.

Oh great, there she went again, worrying about things. She sighed again; maybe she needed to get out of the house for a while. Take a break and just be for a while. Her friend Tilly had said as much the last time she had talked with her over the phone and the other girl usually gave good advice. Maybe she should follow it. So with this thought in mind and after turning off the television, she went back into the bedroom area to collect a few things to hide her appearance. Well, as much as she was able to hide it. A hat and sunglasses maybe? It was a little cliché but hey, it just might work. So after she grabbed a pretty sun hat and a set of surprisingly plain sunglasses, along with her handbag and phone, she decided that she was going to head out and explore the city a bit. She was curious about what had changed and what hadn’t.

So far, this little field trip into the outside world had been boring. Oh sure, the air was refreshing and it was nice to just get out and walk around for a little while and all that, but there hadn’t been anything exciting. Well, unless you counted exciting as almost getting spotted by the paparazzi but that had ceased to be exciting really quickly after it had first happened to her when she had just been starting out. Now it was something that she dreaded with a fiery passion. Haru sighed and keep on looking, the streets had quickly blurred together in her boredom but at least there didn’t seem to be a ton of people out. Though, her definition of a ton of people had changed recently so it would probably be considered busy by most of the people from around here.

Her heels clicked softly on the pavement with each step she took and after a while, it started to hold a rhythm not unlike a musical score. Oh wow, yeah, she really had needed to take a break if she was starting to find music in walking. To distract herself from this sad little discovery about herself, she started looking around at the nearby shops in earnest. Not only did she want to sit for a while, but she wanted to get something to eat. She was feeling a little hungry. That’s when she spotted it. A little sweet shop tucked away between a couple of other restaurants. Oh that would be a perfect place to go. Plus, the name was just too cute, Flutter Hearts. So cute!

So she made her way over to it and stepped inside. She breathed the lovely smell of sweets and freshly baked bread and sighed in bliss. Oh this is so what she needed right now. She walked closer to the front counter to see what they had for sale, and the selection made her mouth water. Now if only she could decide what she wanted, she’d be totally set.

It took the fresh air and a bit of a small breeze to wake Kyo up. As he walked down the streets he noticed a lot more of the young crowd listening to their Phones or MP3 Players. Deep down he figured he was going to have to buy one of those things in order to survive in this new environment. Kyo looked at the letter then looked around confused until he finally found the mail box he was searching for. "I hope this makes it to him. Last think I need is to be hunted down..." He huffed as he placed it in the box then continued to walk on.

Something caught him by the nose and it smelled delightful. He looked around and was trying to pinpoint that delicious scent. Before he knew it he was looking around and seeing if he could find the location by scent. Like a bloodhound on a trail he was hot on it. His search brought him to a place he would have never noticed if he wasn't interested in sweets. He looked up and tilted his head in confusion. "Flutter Hearts? What kind of a name is that?" He said as he shrugged his shoulders and opened the door. Once inside he looked at all the sweets and he licked his lips happily. He bumped into someone but didn't even notice as his tail wagged nearly a mile a minute.

Ok, the day had been getting on a much better track but then some moron just had to run into her and knock her hat off her head. She quickly grabbed it and put it back on in a desperate bid to protect her disguise. She quickly looked around to see if anyone had noticed. Luckily, it looked like no one had, although a couple of people did seem to be trying to get a closer look. Great, just great. Thanks a lot, pal. This was so the last thing she needed right now.

She had been trying to do all of this on the down low but this jerk seemed intent on ruining that. Knocking her around, acting really weird, and drawing a whole lot of unnecessary attention to them. She smiled at the most curious people, a couple in the corner, awkwardly and they went back to their own activities after a few seconds. She sighed in relief, happy that she was still unnoticed by the other patrons.

And the worse part of it was, the jerk hadn’t even attempted to apologize. He was too busy gawking and practically drooling everywhere. His tail was even wagging like a dog’s for goodness sake. The nerve of this guy! Really, just what was his deal? Rude much? Not to mention he was still acting like a total weirdo. She really did have all the luck, she really did.

Excuse you, jerk. People were trying to stand here before you decided to try and bowl them over,” she snapped, trying in vain to straighten up her hair under her hat without taking it off. She eventually gave up since it appeared to be a hopeless task. So she settled for crossing her arms over her chest.

They also usually apologize after running into them too. The cakes and stuff will still be here, so chill out. They aren't gonna run off or anything,” she said still a little cross. However, she didn’t sound quite as angry as before having calmed a little from her initial anger.

Kyo, like any dog would, was practically drooling over the sweets in the shop and he could hear giggling behind him then an angry voice. "Hm?" he said as he looked down and saw an angry girl. She had her arms in front of her chest and he honest;y idn't know if she was really young or just in her 20's. Course he was only 19 and still acts like a puppy at times. But her pouting made he turn completly around. "If I bumped into you I didn't even feel it." He said plainly as a worker stated they would be there in a minute. But even as he looked back he huffed and one ear laid flat as the other stood up with him gving and even peeved look. "Alright shessh kid quit with the stare dow will ya? I'm sorry!" he seened to growl it more than mean it.

"Welcome! I can take the order from the next person in line please!" Maemi said with the cutest smile on her face. "Go on then." He said shooing the woman away. "You were here before me anyways." he huffed as his tail had stopped wagging and he crossed his own arms in front of his chest looking annoyed still. The smell of sugar and bread was calming him down. The white hothead smiled as he went back to looking at the cases of what he wanted. So easily amused and happily so because his tail wagged happily showing just how happy he was becoming once again.

Haru huffed, really annoyed now. Really, what kind of apology was that? She knew she was tiny but geez, he still should’ve felt something. She took a deep breath, trying to keep her temper under control. She had to maintain her composure at all costs. If she actually was discovered and it got out that she had acted less than the perfect lady … she shivered. Grandmother would have her head. Deep breath, in and out, she could do this. Let the lovely smell of fresh pastries and bread soothe you.

Until he called her a child, she had to physically grit her teeth together to keep from tearing the guy a new one. ‘Control and discipline, you must keep her true feelings under control,’ she focused on her mother’s advice, trying to use it well. Deep breaths, deep breaths, you are a proper lady of the Matsumoto household, this annoying as- … gentlemen will not destroy your composure unless you let him. She wouldn’t let him, so placed a smile on her face in response to his annoyance. What did he have to be annoyed about anyway? He’s the one that had run into her! So what gave him the right … ok, she was letting it get to her again. She took another deep breath and put the smile back on her face.

No, please, you go ahead. I hadn’t had that chance to decide what I wanted yet and I’d hate to have you waste your time waiting on me. So please go on ahead, sir,” she told him, sounding every bit the proper lady she’d been raised to be, despite the fact that she’d love to punch him for being so rude. None of that wish bled through however, so she was very proud of herself for keeping it locked up for once. Go her, maybe she’d buy herself something super sugary as a reward.

She moved out of the way to allow the guy to order and went back to looking at the board without waiting for his reply. She wasn't in the mood for being that nice. She'd be polite but that was about it. He was lucky to get that much in her opinion. Now what should she get? A piece of cake or some cupcakes? Oh maybe some eclaires?! Decisions, decisions.

Of course this fluffy white fur pup was as confused about what was going on as she huffed at him. Naturally Kyo was in the wrong but he would never admit it. He happened to really not notice this frail woman here. Well frail to his tall and half built frame. One thing is for sure she did look rather cute when she looked upset. Kyo didn't know why but she did and he went back to looking at pastries instead of her finding her to now be a distraction on his quest for sweet things.

While she was gritting her teeth and having her mental breakdown on what to do with him Kyo was too busy drooling over the glass looking at all the pastries. 'Apple pie in a cupcake format?! Blueberry muffin surprise~ Pineapple upside down mini cakes.....oh my what to order....' His cyan colored eye seemed to grow wide as he scanned the glass and he ended in the cake section. Someone seemed to be working in the back in the cooler area and Kyo, being curious, looked over to see the man working on a big cake.

His mind was swimming in sweets until the woman told him that he could order first. His tail wagged happily as he smiled, "Really?! Thanks~" He said as he walked to the counter and smiled at the clerk. "Hi! 2 Pineapple mini cakes and can I get 2 choco sticks on the side. One filled with milk chocolate and the other white chocolate please? Oh and extra pineapple bits if possible please~" He said as the clerk told him his total and he paid by cash once more.

Once Kyo got his change and receipt he walked over to the side and sat down on a bar stool going over to watch the man behind the counter work on making a new batch of cupcakes to decorate. Masanori was pretty fast as he was making what looked like bridal cupcakes for a big order. "Wow that is very pretty." Kyo said as his tail continued to wag as he watched the man work with the craft sugar to make the flowers and leaves.

Haru sighed as she watched him browse the selection for a few minutes. The jerk just acted like a big child about it all and if she were to be perfectly honest with herself, it was sort of amusing to watch. After a few seconds of entertaining herself watching his antics, she went back to looking over the menu board and trying to match them up with the products in the display cases. They all looked so delicious that it made it hard to choose which one she wanted. Decisions, decisions. She had been largely ignoring him  while he ordered but he got her attention once again when he pointed out some of the loveliest cupcakes that she had ever seen and she’d seen a lot of cupcakes.

Then she spotted the little sign that sat in front of them to identify what they were in the display case. Bridal cakes, huh? What a cute name, though it did seem a little strange. Maybe they were eaten only at weddings originally or maybe they were for someone’s wedding perhaps? She had no idea. They certainly looked yummy though but she wasn’t sure she was quite in the mood for cupcakes. But these looked really good, very tempting. Plus, she could get a whole bunch of them and take them home. Maybe bring some to the girls in her band.

Her eyes lit up at the idea. Yeah, it would be an awesome surprise for them especially since they’d been working so hard. It was perfect! Cupcakes it was then, though she wasn’t going to get the Bridal ones since those looked like it took a long time to make them and she wasn’t about to wait around forever just for some cupcakes to take home. She’d go with something a little simpler instead. Maybe get a bunch of different ones so they’d be able to get one that they liked?  Oooh, that was it. She’d do that. With that plan in mind, she gently rocked back and forth in her high heels, the heels making a small clicking sound every time they hit the ground.

They are pretty. All those little flowers and things must take forever to do,” she commented, not really sure why she did so. Maybe she was just bored while she was waiting or something? Like heck if she knew.

Masanori looked up and he smiled as he put the icing bag down. "Thank you." he told them as he looked at the order invoice once more to make sure he was making the right amount. While he was looking at the invoice Maemi was going to the oven to see the next batch of muffins to be decorated. Kyo's tail wagged happily as he could smell the sugar. "Smells soooo good!" he stated. "Sorry Riri but could you make his order real fast? I am ready miss if you are~" She offered as she walked back to the side with the registers.

Masanori chuckled as he looked at Kyo's order and nodded. "Oh okay so 2 pineapple upside down mini cakes. With extra pineapples huh?" he said as he looked over at the girl. "And to answer your question ma'am? No. They used to take me a long time but not so much anymore since I have been doing this for years now." He smiled as he walked off to the next prepping station and began working on the mini cakes. "I hope you don't mind the mini cakes will take a few minutes since you want extra pineapples." he told Kyo as the pups face lit up happily. "No I don't mind at all. So just at least I can have extras I am fine~" he said licking his lips happily.

She sighed in relief when the young lady at the counter told her that she could go on and place her order. It seemed like no matter how hard they tried, the main house still couldn’t train her natural impatience out of her. Haru had really only gotten better at hiding it; maybe that could be considered an improvement? Perhaps, but she wouldn’t think of it as such a rousing success if you asked her. Not that anyone would. No one really seemed all that enthused to ask her much of anything these days. Or ever really, if she was to be perfectly honest and she did try to be; she didn’t always make it but trying counted right?

Haru made her way up to the counter, carefully avoiding running into the young man who was still chatting with the blond decorator guy. No need to repeat their introduction, regardless of how tempting the subsequent revenge might be. And boy was it tempting. ‘Proper manners, Haru, proper manners,’ she reminded herself firmly. She was most likely still a little sore at the affront to her pride which was why she might have thought that it was good idea in the first place. She took another quick glance in his direction and mentally sighed at his behavior before she started to speak to the girl at the counter. Seriously, what grown adult (she assumed he was an adult anyway) let their tail wag like that? He looked like an overgrown puppy with it going a mile a minute. Didn’t he have any sense of shame? Like any? At all?

Yes, thank you very much. I would like a dozen of your cupcakes, please,” she said with a much brighter smile than was probably warranted for the situation but she was just so excited to do something nice for her band mates and manager,” Um, can we split the flavors in the order or do we have to stick to one kind per box?”

Haru flushed a bit in both embarrassment and worry. She hoped it didn’t make her seem like too much of a child that she didn’t know this. But it wasn’t like she had much practice in placing orders herself. The staff at the estate or someone who worked for their Label usually did that for her. Maybe the lady wouldn’t question it too much? That could make things pretty awkward if that happened because how would she be able to explain that away without revealing too much. She wasn’t entirely sure if she could in all honesty so she hoped she didn’t have to try.

Maemi chuckled as he pulled out a cupcake binder and nodded. "Yup you can split them up however you wish. Choosing your own decorations from here will cost you a bit extra though. Do you mind that?" She asked  her as Kyo watched Masanori continue to make his upside down cupcakes from scratch. The smells of fresh batches in the ovens was filling the bakery as Kyo licked his lips in happiness. "Mm that smells so good~" he said as Masanori chuckled. "you both must not be from around here. We tend to know all of our customers and have everything ready by the time they come in. Or like when Tori has their Homecoming events we have everything done for pickup in the morning. Septimal Moons has their special events and their stuff is made for pick up first sign of open doors." he stated as Kyo's tails topped wagging and he looked down at nothing in particular.

"Yeah I just got here literally speaking about a few weeks ago. Just moved here actually. I don't know much about this place but seems cool." He said as Masanori nodded and stirred the new batter. "Where are you from?" Maemi asked as Kyo smiled a little. "I hail from the Mountain community. My Town is famous for their Hot Springs!" he said with a very proud tone but since it was off season no one knows about the situation out there currently.

Haru smiled brightly. Oh good, not only could she get different flavors but the lady at the counter had either not noticed her nerves or didn’t want to mention them. It didn’t really matter either way. She just didn’t want to be embarrassed in public because she wasn’t sure how the rest of the House would take that. She shivered a little at the thought of Grandmother getting involved.

She shook her head,” Nope, that's fine. I expected as much actually.” She gave a little smile to the lady to let her know there were no hard feelings on that issue. Plus, it wasn’t like Haru couldn’t afford it. She rocked back and forth on her heels while she thought about what she wanted. However, all the delicious smells were making it a little hard to think. It made her want to order everything and that was really a no go. No matter how much she may want to.

Um, how about we start with four vanilla cupcakes with the cream cheese icing and some little music notes put on them? Oh and four of those pure chocolate looking ones; they look super tasty and can I get those specific decorations on them? They’d be perfect, “she pointed at the ones she was referring to through the glass so the lady would have a better understanding,” As for the last four, I’d like the Caramel Surprise but instead of those decorations, can I get little records instead? I’ll pay extra if it’s a super big hassle to make the changes. I wouldn’t mind.”

She looked over at the chef who was still making some sort of cupcake thing that looked as fantastic as it smelt and replied after the hyper guy,” I’m not from around here either, no, but my family’s lived in the area for ages. I’m in town for work and I wanted to get something nice for my colleagues. They’ve been working so hard that I wanted to do something nice for them you know.”

She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear,” I’ve been to the Mountain region a few times, mister, and I do have to agree. Those hot springs are the bomb.” There, she could make nice when she wanted, though she was being honest about those hot springs. They were pretty great.

"Kyo's the name." Kyo said as he wagged his tail happily. Nori looked up for making the last batch of cupcakes. "If I may ask. Where do you both hail from? I will agree with everyone here Kyo that the Srpings are amazing." He smiled as Kyo's tail went from timid to a mile a minute. "I am from Lamiont located at the base of the mountains deep in Japan. We have what is called the Healing Hot Springs." He smiled as he looked at everyone but his tail slowed and he just watched Masanori. "You are very far from home. Wanted to see the city?" he asked as he smiled and began making Haru's cupcakes.

Kyo was quiet for a while as he growled a bit. "I have personal business to tend to..." He stated as he looked up and released a slow sigh. Maemi smiled as she looked over at Haru "If you don't mind it will take an hour or so to make them since it is a dozen and they are specially decorated. And for the Chocolate Delights what would you like on them? I see you looking so maybe something music related since that seems to be you theme?" She suggested as Kyo was handed a sugar cane as well as Haru. Jae chuckled as he had one himself. "Jae you dork..." Maemi sighed as Jae smirked and walked to the back. Kyo just lightly chewed his cane as he tried to take hi mind off of the reason for being here.

Haru watched as the two talked for a while, mostly since her contribution didn’t seem to be needed. That was fine. All the better actually since it made it less likely that someone might recognize her voice. She was probably just being overly paranoid though. It wasn’t like she was that famous yet. Still, it was a possibility and one she would like to avoid if she were able. The less mess, the better, wasn’t that how the saying went?

As Kyo, now that he had finally decided to give out his name, spoke happily of his home, she couldn’t help but wonder what his life must’ve been like. It seemed like his home had been much more pleasant than growing up in the Matsumoto household had. Not that the entire experience had been horrible or anything. There had been many happy times but it felt like they got fewer and fewer as she got older. The only times she felt true joy these days were when she working on her music or working with her band-mates. Heck, even touring wasn’t so bad. It provided a wonderful escape when things got too nasty at the main estate.

Though no matter how nice his home may have been, it didn’t seem as if he left it willingly if the change in his demeanor was anything to go by. She briefly wondered what the reason might have been, imagining a few creative scenarios that were more at home in movies than in reality, before deciding that it wasn’t any of her business really. His reasons were his own and it wasn’t like she was entitled to know everything about the guy’s life just because she was curious. People were allowed their secrets as far she was concerned. However, she just couldn’t help but want to comfort him in some way. Darn conscience.

She smiled slightly at him, before she simply said,” Well whatever your business is, Kyo-san, it has to be important for you to be so far. So if my wishes count for something, I wish you good fortune on whatever ” she waved her hand in a quick circle,” your business might be and that the odds will be in your favor.”

She turned her attention back to the lady behind the counter when she asked a few questions. Haru nodded, having known that it might take some time to make them since they were so specialized and all.

That’s fine, I don’t mind waiting,” she replied, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear,” I kinda wanted the ones that were already on the chocolates but you know what, you’re probably right. I should stick to the theme so if you could change them to something music related, then that’d be awesome.”

She took the candy gingerly; not really sure why Jae was handing her candy but she found herself smiling brightly at the gesture anyway. It was unexpected but nice. She looked at it for a moment before she realized that she probably needed to say something.

Thanks so much. This looks tasty,” she said quickly. She hoped she hadn’t been too late to respond, but it looked like she needn’t have worried too much about it since he went back into the back of the shop. Well, regardless, she hoped that he had heard her thanks anyway. She took a small bite of the confection, mostly because she wasn’t sure how big of a mess it might make as she ate. The sweet flavor burst brightly on her tongue and she sighed softly in bliss. If the cupcakes were half as good as the candy cane was, then she’d come to the right place.

She looked to Kyo and said,” Well, I’m going to take a seat. You can join me if you would like to. If not, then it was nice to meet you, Kyo-san.”

And with that, she looked around, and after she found an empty table, she sat down to wait for her order.

Kyo's ears laid flat in his snow white hair as he sighed and tried to nom his worries away. Go to Kibo City. Your pathetic little country train can take you there. Oh and by the way they all will remain mindless drones until you return prepared. Fail and your dad dies first got it? Return without anything and they all die. Don't make our leader mad now k~ Kyo's expression changed quickly to anger as he chomped on the sugar cane and ate the piece he bit off. But a pure voice and movements caught his attention as his ears stood up and he looked over at Haru.

"Hm? Oh. Thanks I appreciate that." He said as his tail slowly wagged again. His eye went back to looking at the treats which Nori was now having Jae pack up. "Making me pack things up..." he pouted as Masanori shook his head. "Just go deliver that to the Academy will ya?" He stated as Jae made fun of him and left with the boxes of treats. Maemi smiled happily. "No problem they can all be music themed." She said skipping to the back to find more of the items to decorate them with. "Kyo yours will take about 10 minutes and yours ma'am will be longer since the time is decorating." Masanori stated as he went back to making the batch for the oven.

Once Jae had everything set and locked up the treats and smirked. "All school deliveries will be made and you both are welcome for the sugar canes. But remember too much sugar is bad for you so moderation kids." He smirked as he carried the bags with treats to the van. Kyo smiled as he followed Haru to a table and sat down. "Again sorry about earlier." He said as he watched Masanori from afar. "So..um...just a tip about me. I sort of suck at conversation so Sorry about that too." He stated as he ate most of his sugar cane now.

Haru was thrilled that the wait wouldn’t be too long. She had honestly expected the entire process to take a while since those decorations looked time consuming. But it wasn’t like she was expert on baking/decoration time management or anything of that sort. So really what did she know about it? She was brought out of these thoughts when she noticed Kyo come over and take the seat across the table from her. Huh, she hadn’t actually expected to sit there. She had just made the offer to be polite, especially since they hadn’t gotten off on the best foot as far as introductions where concerned. Though the next few words out of his mouth did wonders to restore good will all things considered. An apology was all she had been after in the first place.

Haru smiled ruefully at his admission,” Yeah I could kinda tell.” She laughed quietly and continued,” But practice makes perfect, you know. Or at least that’s what I’m told.”

She took another bite of her candy cane as she idly glanced around the room. It was almost gone which was a shame. It had been very tasty.

But I appreciate the apology though. That’s always a good start when you mess up. Call it a friendly tip,” she stated before taking the last bite of the candy. She wondered briefly if she should get a napkin for her fingers but she was more tempted to just lick them clean. No matter how childish that might seem to others. In the end she just decided it wasn’t worth it. Especially if it did get out who she was and someone took a picture or something. Her parents would freak and if they got Grandma involved…she shivered at the thought. She shook her head a little to clear the image out of her mind and wiped her hands after grabbing a napkin from the dispenser that was in the middle of the table. That was definitely something that she didn’t need to think about right now.

Anyway, what brings you here to the bakery? If you don’t mind my asking that is,” she replied,” You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. The great candy would be reason enough in my book.”

Kyo watched as Masanori continued working in a swift manner. His tail was in his lap now as he smiled a little bit. "I think it makes it better. But Ma said it is best to learn along the way." he said as he turned to her and smiled. He turned back to Masanori even though he was a distance away. "I actually wanted something sweet. Had a burger earlier took a nap then wanted something sweet. I am new around here still. But even for 3 weeks of set up I know very few places." He said as he looked over at Haru and tilted his head a bit showing his eye patch. "Well what brings you here actually?" He asked curiously.

Haru nodded along in the appropriate places as he talked. She couldn’t help but smile when he mentioned his mother’s advice. It sounded like something she had heard Tilly’s mother say a few times when they were backstage. Her own would have never told her such a thing. She was to be prepared at all times since you never knew who could be watching you; that’s the kind of advice her mother gave. After all, she needs to put forth a dignified image and make sure she doesn’t embarrass the family. She’d had a few too many close calls already as far as they were concerned.  But she supposed that was the difference in their families. Her own barely felt like a family at all these days. She hoped he had ended up better off in that regard than she had.

Then he asked her what she was doing the bakery. Huh, oh, oh good, now she needed to answer as calmly and smoothly as possible so as to not make him suspicious. Plus, she couldn’t let him know who she was. Should be easy right? Yeah, too bad she wasn’t all that good at lying. It was really a shame that she was because it was a handy skill to have when one was from an aristocrat household.

Oh, I just came to get a nice surprise for my ba-, friends from school. We just finished a really tough project from one of our classes and I wanted to get them something nice to reward their hard work, ya know,” she hastily corrected her mistake and cursed her carelessness for making it in the first place. Maybe she’d be lucky and he wouldn’t notice. He honestly didn’t seem to be the observant conversational partner so the odds were in her favor at the moment. At least, she hoped they were.

Kyo smiled at her and wagged his tail happily. "That is really sweet of you actually. I am sure your friends will be very happy to get such tasty treats from you." He said as he looked over back at the tray. "I should be starting school up even though I will be late." He said looking back at her. "What school do you go to and what grade are you in if you don't mind me asking?" He said looking much like a very interested puppy.

Haru couldn’t help but blush a little when he said the gesture was sweet. It quickly faded but she hoped he didn’t catch it. It would be kind of embarrassing if he had.

You think so? I mean I just wanted to do something nice for them since they’re my friends and all. Though, ah, thanks for saying that. I just hope they do like it, if not this will be a little embarrassing. Plus, I’ll be stuck with all those cupcakes,” she replied, still just a touch embarrassed but she managed to hide it well. Well, she hoped she did anyway.

She groaned internally when he mentioned school. School was ok she supposed but she guessed that it was probably better when one didn’t have to have classes while on tour. It took forever to get anywhere, mostly because of all the other demands that such a rigorous schedule put on your time. It was heck trying to write a paper while memorizing lyrics for the new song that you were adding to your tour. Yeah, it was probably slightly better in a building, though probably not by much.

Uh, I’m homeschooled actually,” she replied. That answer sounded safe enough and it was true. Mostly. “My parents are a little on the over protective side if you get me. They were worried about the school system and weren’t sure it was best to send me there, so they just decided to teach me themselves.”

Well, hire tutors they approved of to do the job for them but it was close enough to the truth.

Kyo didn't know why but a smile just crept across his face as his tail wagged a little in his lap. "Well if I didn't think so I wouldn't have said it." he commented as he turned to look at her. She seemed a bit shy which made him chuckle a bit. "Such an odd thing to think of it as embarrassing. Too much sweets is bad for you I suppose. I tend not to eat them too often since it messes up my stomach. Love them though!" He said as he licked his lips a bit.

"Alright your order is done sir but I warn you it is hot." Masanori stated as Kyo smiled. "I will let it cool off as I wait with her if you don't mind." He said as Masanori replied, "No problem." Kyo turned to her and looked a bit surprised. "Home schooled? They allow you to stay home and be trained?" He was a bit new to the whole home school term but he in a sense was partially home schooled until he could attend school in the neighboring cities. Kyo closed his eye and had a serious look on his face as he thought about his own upbringing. "Hm If I can recall I was taught at home up to a certain age. From there I had to travel with the other kids to the neighboring cities for schooling. To me the system isn't bad but teachers are very strict though. I can't even tell you how many pails of rice or water I had to hold for being hard headed in class." He pouted a bit but laughed it off as his tail wagged and hi ears went back.

She blushed again when he mentioned her earlier embarrassment. Great so he caught it after all. Maybe he was more observant than she had given him credit for … or he just got lucky. Yeah, given what she had seen earlier, she guessed that the second option was more likely. She giggled though when he mentioned the stomach ate he got from eating too many sweets. How childish of him. But hey, there were worse childish habits to have so it wasn’t like it was that big of deal.

Oh I know the feeling. I still eat too many sweets sometimes too,” she replied with a sheepish smile,” They’re just so tasty you can’t help yourself.”

She was surprised when he said that he wanted to wait with her rather than just getting his order and leaving. Strange. Didn’t people usually do that or was she getting that wrong? It wasn’t like she had a whole bunch of experience with this sort of thing. Eh, who knew? Maybe he was just having fun chatting and wanted to keep it up for a bit longer. Yeah, that was probably all it was. While it might seem strange to some that she was focusing on all the quirks and oddities of her companion’s behavior, it was an invaluable survival tool when one was part of an aristocratic house. Behavior was key to learning just what others had planned and whether or not they involved you and some foul fate. She shivered lightly at the thought and quickly put that train of thought out her mind. There was no need to dwell on such unpleasant things after all.

Though, uh, that bit about training was strange. Just what did he mean by that? Had she accidently let her Ring fly loose and free again? Was he in a unit and able to pick on that sort of thing? Ugh, that thing was such a pain to get under control. Why did she even have to anyway? Who even cared since it wasn’t like normal people could really hear it anyway. Regardless, his school system sounded a little weird. Didn’t most people stay in one school for their lessons? Eh, maybe it was done a little differently in the country.

She couldn’t help but laugh when she heard him mention the water pails,” Oh so who were a back talker, huh? Or just wouldn’t do what the teacher said?” she teased good-naturedly.

Kyo thought about it and chuckled a bit. "I have to admit I just wouldn't listen. I remember one time the teacher asked me a math question and I was determined she was giving me the wrong answer. Of course I was a kid like 5 or 6 and I was determined to get them to understand 1+1=3. My logic at the time was 2 people who love each other no matter if they want it to happen or not always have at least one kid." He laughed wagging his tail.

"But on a serious note I was just bad. Ma said it is a boy thing. We are just bad and want to play all the time." He said as his tail wagged and he looked at her. But the smile faded a bit as his ears went back. "I do admit I have to go back to school. I never got a chance to finish school so..." he said as an embarrassment so he turned away.

She smiled,” Yeah I kinda figured it was something like that.”

Haru was suddenly reminded of her cousin at his words and while it made her a little sad to think of him, it also made her happy. She missed him, both of them, but it was good to reminded of the good times. After all, back then, she could’ve always counted on Takumi being a hard head and making Emiko chase after him to make sure he didn’t hurt himself. She doubted that had changed even though years had passed since then but you never knew really. People changed all the time after all, whether for the better or worse.

Boys tend to be hard headed I’ve noticed. Heck, you should’ve gotten a load of my cousin back when he was younger. He was always off on some,” she waved her had flippantly,” adventures, though most people probably wouldn’t call them that I’m sure.”

Her smile changed to a more subdued and understanding one after he mentioned that he hadn’t had the chance to finish his education. Poor guy. It must've really taken a lot for him to admit such a thing but good for him for having the courage to do so and with a stranger no less.

Hey, once you’re done with whatever your “mission”? You called it a mission right?” she asked kindly, for once,” Well, whenever you’re done with that you can go back and finish if you want. As far as I know there’s no one telling you no, right? So go for it.”

She wasn’t sure why she was being so nice to this guy but she was in a good mood today so maybe she was passing the good feelings on and making the world brighter. Or something stupid like that. Emiko or one of her bandmates might have had a better name for it cause she certainly couldn’t be bother to try and find it herself.

Their conversation passed a lot of time and soo Masanori was calling them both to come and get their food. "Have a good day!" The employees said as Kyo picked up his food and smiled. "Thank you so much for the conversation. I will take into consideration about going back to school and bettering myself." he said as he looked to the ground and smiled at her eventually once he looked up. "Maybe I will see you around or something? I am new to this area but I am sure you will see me walking around aimlessly." he said with a sheepish grin.
